Replace Men With Flowers Collages

This series came about when I was challenging myself to make a collage a day for a month. While brainstorming the kinds of collages I wanted to make, I wished I had better access to well-known images to then alter and make my own through collages. The example that came to mind was the V-J Day In Times Square photograph. I then remembered that I had read somewhere that the kiss in the photograph was non-consensual and that the sailor in the image had grabbed a random woman and pulled her into that kiss without her permission. My frustration over this got me thinking about how I would alter this image through collage and I decided I would replace the man in the photograph with flowers. My very next thought was “This should be a series.”

This series is meant both to be a joke and to say something real about the world, as most jokes do.
